The transition to parenthood is often focused on the mother, but partners are also deeply impacted. You may feel a mix of excitement, joy, protectiveness, uncertainty, and even helplessness as you support your loved one/s and adjust to your new identity, lifestyle and responsibilities.

You’re not alone in this. The partner’s wellbeing is an essential part of a healthy, connected family. At The Mindful Birth Movement, we offer counselling and education designed specifically to support you – whether you’re preparing for birth, adjusting to life with a newborn, or finding your way as a parent.

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. With the right tools and understanding, partners can play a powerful role in creating calm, connected families.

If you’d like to feel more confident, calm, and connected as a partner and parent, we’re here to support you.

Why focus on fathers?

At The Mindful Birth Movement we stand by the aims in the
Health Male and Plus Paternal: A focus on fathers. Case for Change.

“Australian fathers want and deserve more from our health system.

Non-birthing parents, most commonly men, are not systematically engaged or supported from pre-conception to parenthood. They are often treated as secondary to fertility, birthing and parenting processes – welcome but not active-partners.

Many do not receive the care they need if they are unable to conceive, if they lose a child or if they are struggling with parenthood. Opportunities to prepare them for this major life transition are lost. This negatively impacts the health and well-being of all family members, as well as on relationships within families.

The evidence and the feedback Healthy Male has drawn together showed clear, consistent themes:

Not only did we discover a pressing need for change, we found a strong desire for change amongst men, health professionals and policy makers”.

Here at The Mindful Birth Movement, we stand by the change that needs to happen so that “Society recognises and values both parents equally”.
